The Hard Client Moment
Winners
Description
Getting work is one thing. Handling the messy, uncomfortable moments that come with real client relationships is another. Late payments, missed deadlines, scope creep, unhappy feedback, these happen to every freelancer eventually. This bounty tests how you think and communicate when things don't go smoothly.
Requirements
What you need to do
Choose one scenario below (or describe a similar real situation you've faced or expect to face):
1. A client has gone quiet for two weeks and still owes you payment for completed work.
2. A client keeps adding extra requests outside of what was agreed, without extra pay.
3. You are going to miss a deadline because of a personal emergency.
4. A client is unhappy with your work and says it's "not what they asked for."
Write the actual message you would send to the client to handle the situation (word it exactly as you would in real life).
Below the message, add a short explanation (3-5 sentences) of why you chose that approach and what outcome you're hoping for.
What we are looking for:
1. A message that is calm, professional, and solution-focused, not defensive or emotional.
2. Clarity and confidence in tone.
3. Good judgment in how the situation is handled.
4. A thoughtful explanation that shows real understanding of client relationships.
